YOU HAVE A STORY .
LET’S FIND IT.
There is no expectation that you disclose the details of your story when registering. This workshop is built around trust, and participants decide what they are comfortable sharing.

Maybe you already know the story you want to tell.
Maybe you only know that something happened to you that has stayed with you.
Maybe you’ve thought about becoming a storyteller at The Listening Room, but the idea of standing in front of a room and telling a personal story feels a little daunting.
That’s why we’re doing this.
The Listening Room Storytellers Workshop is a small, three-hour gathering designed to help people find the story inside an experience and begin shaping it into something they can share.
We’ll start around the table with lunch together. No exercises. No introductions that require anyone to bare their soul. We’ll eat, talk and get comfortable with one another first.
Then we’ll get to the stories.
During the afternoon, we’ll explore:
finding the actual story inside a larger experience
creating a beginning, middle and end without making it feel formulaic
staying with “I” and speaking from lived experience
choosing the details that bring a story to life
knowing what belongs in the story and what can be left out
finding meaning without needing to give the audience a lesson
writing and shaping a 7–10 minute personal story
listening to one another and discovering what actually stays with an audience
There will be time to write, talk and work individually on your story.
If you want to share some of what you’ve developed with the group, you can.
If you don’t, you don’t have to.
This is not an audition.
You do not have to attend this workshop to become a future Listening Room storyteller.
Attending does not guarantee or obligate anyone to tell a story at a future event.
You do not need to be a writer.
You do not need to be a performer.
And you certainly do not need to arrive with a finished story.
You just need to be curious about the one you may already be carrying.
